PostSubject: A Bad shot (Misfire)   Sun Nov 06, 2011 8:31 pm

I was watching 3 spikes yesterda and had a great 15 yard shot. As I drew the bow, it saw me and ran out of my pop-up blind window. So here I am, at full draw for about 40 seconds. I was getting ready to let down, whene it came back, but was not at a good angle. I was getting ready to come down, and while trying to move my trigger finger behind the trigger to avoid an unintended launch, my finger just grazed the trigger and the arrow flew. I was aiming in the direction of the spike and hit it, but not fatally. I've been depressed ever since. That's my first would, and hopefully my last.

I think it's important to demonstrate failures as well as successes so someone else can learn from our mistakes.

Although I took a deer this morning, the one that got away still haunts me.

That kinda stuff happens to us all. You just have to let it go or the next time you draw down on one you could start thinkin about it and choke. A few yrs ago I drew down on a big 190+ buck and while holding the bow at full draw let the string relax and come off the wall a sec and jerked when I shot. I gut shot it. Never did find the deer. Well the next day I went out again and when it came time to shoot I couldnt do it cuz I was nervous. Its just one of those things that happens and we cant just sit around and think about it or it will ruin bow hunting for you. I have been bow hunting for many yrs and have many of screw ups and if I would let every bad shot bother me then I wouldnt be a bow hunter. Keep your head up jackrabbit and dont think about it and best of luck one you next harvest.

Well, been there for sure!...Its like driving a truck or car if you drive long enough your gonna have a wreck soon or later...its just the way it is .....

Truthfully if the deer dies you just made room for two more to live threw this drought. If not, chances are you may get to see him again Very Happy

Yeah, I started feeling better after sticking the doe the next day.

I'm going to try to get there more and take that buck I just posted a picture of in the photo corner or the axis.
