GOD

GUARDS YOU

2 Thessalonians 3:3 But the Lord is faithful, who will establish you and guard you from the evil one.

There have been times when guards became distracted or fell asleep at their post, during those times an enemy slipped by them.  God, who has promised to guard you, He will never slumber, Psalm 121:3.  The other thing He has promised is that He will establish you.  Some people seem to be established in problems, and others seemed to be established in the realm of confusion.  God wants to work through you so that you are established in success.  Notice what David said in Psalm 1:3 “He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper.”  The evil one doesn’t want you to prosper, but God wants to stop him from accomplishing his goal.  Praise the Lord in a greater way today, because He is going to cause you to be victorious.

Prayer Thought

I am not moved by what I see.  I am not moved by what I feel.  I am only moved by what I believe.  Smith Wigglesworth.  What do you believe?

GOD BEGAN A

GOOD WORK IN YOU

Philippians 1:6 Being confident of this very thing, that He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.

Where you are today may seem to be a long way from the goals you had when you first became a Christian. Is it possible the enemy got you side-tracked, and you don’t know how to get back toward the goal God has for you?  Psalm 138:8 tells you, “The Lord will perfect that which concerns me; Your mercy, O Lord, endures forever; do not forsake the works of Your hands.”

When your concern is to get back into the center of God’s will for your life, He will help you get there.  He began a good work in you, and will complete it.  Be confident that He will accomplish this in your life.  He has far greater plans in store for your life than you ever dreamed possible, now expect Him to cause them to take place in the near future.

Jeremiah 29:11  For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.

Prayer Thought

His word has never failed!  If you can’t believe God, who can you believe?

YOU ARE A SAINT

Ephesians 1:1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints who are in Ephesus, and faithful in Christ Jesus.

Although the letter to the Ephesians was addressed to the Christians in Ephesus, it was designed for the believers of all ages, in every country.  Notice, we are called “SAINTS”.  Any believer who is living for the Lord, is a saint in the eyes of the Lord.  You don’t have to wait until you have passed away to become a saint, because you are one now, if you are living for Him.  A saint is a person who is set apart for God’s purposes, and we have been set apart to live for Him.

You have been set apart for the work of the Lord, and He wants to work through you to meet your needs as well as those of others around you.  He has you in the position He wants you to be, so “Saint, What ever your name is”, expect the Lord to work through you today.

Prayer Thought

We are the righteousness of Christ.  Until we understand who He is, we’ll never understand who we are!

BLESSED IN

SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS

Ephesians 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ.

You have been given the promise and it’s yours to receive, even if you haven’t seen the results yet.  One of your spiritual blessings, is being directed by the Holy Spirit on a daily basis.  He wants to help you overcome problems that are confronting you, and give you the answers you are looking for.  Many believers have a large amount of knowledge, but the wisdom from God is lacking in their lives.  Divine wisdom is needed in a greater way, because so many are facing major problems.  James says you can receive it, James 1:5. God supplies His wisdom to those who have an intimate relationship with Him. Get to know Him better, and start seeing His wisdom work in you in a greater way.

Prayer Thought

Prayer gives strength to the weak, faith to the faint-hearted and courage to the fearful.  All God has for you cannot be contained in one container.

GOD WILL STAND

UP FOR YOU

Zephaniah 3:15 The Lord has taken away your judgments, (judicial sentence or punishment), He has cast out your enemy.  The King of Israel, the Lord, is in your midst; you shall see disaster no more.

The word “FORGIVE” means to cease to feel angry or resentful, and no longer hold it against the person. The word “PARDON” has an added meaning, which can include a remission or removal of the legal consequences of a crime, conviction, error or offence.  Legal consequences may be removed, but natural or physical consequences may still remain. An illustration could be that in a fit of anger one mate threw something which broke an expensive item in the home, or worse yet, destroyed an eye of one of the family members.  Forgiveness may be given, but the effect of the outburst of anger could last the rest of their lives.  God is able to overcome the consequences when you come to Him in prayer, asking for forgiveness and guidance.

Prayer Thought

“Mercy is not for them that sin and fear not, but for them that fear and sin not.”  T. Watson.

DO NOT WORRY

Matthew 6:25 Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on.  Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?

Worry is the art of being anxious, being uneasy, vexed or troubled.  It has caused people many sleepless hours, because they were not sure of what was going to happen next.  When people continue to worry, they end up in a panic.  They allow the enemy to take over and rob them of their faith and trust in the promises of God, losing their joy and dependency on the Lord.  You must realize that worry is a temptation, just like the temptation to steal, or any of the other thoughts that Satan brings to you.  You are told to resist the devil and he will flee from you, James 4:7; 1 Peter 5:8-9. It is not necessary to worry when you are sure God is in control, and wants to meet all of your needs.

Prayer Thought

Worry really means “to be divided in the mind”, being double-minded, rather than single minded.  Proverbs 3: 5 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; don’t depend on your own understanding”.

DELIGHTING

IN THE LORD

Psalm 37:4 Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. 5. Commit your way to the Lord, trust also in Him, and He shall bring it to pass.

Many people have stated that there is no use in serving the Lord, not realizing that God has many wonderful promises for them.  When you are in close fellowship with the Lord, He gives you the desires of your heart.  As you commit your ways to Him, you will also see those plans fulfilled.  On one occasion my wife and I were scheduled to speak in Switzerland, but the plans were canceled.  On our return trip from South Africa to the United States, the plane leaving South Africa was delayed by five hours.  This meant that the connecting flight in Zurich would leave thirty minutes before we arrived.  As a result the airline put us up overnight, in a five star hotel in the downtown area, which allowed us to sightsee!  Such a blessing, the God-kind!

Prayer Thought

Sometimes God doesn’t tell you all His plans for your life because you wouldn’t believe it anyway!  C. Pearson.  No promise from God can fail to be fulfilled.

DON’T PANIC

Matthew 24:6 And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars.  See that you are not troubled; (DON’T PANIC) for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet.

Problems in many countries are increasing greatly, just as Jesus said.  This is a cause of great concern for the person who is not being controlled by the promises of God.  Why Did Jesus say “Don’t be troubled, or in other words, don’t panic” when these situations occur?  He has promised that He will never leave or forsake you, and that His protection for you would be wherever you went, so why should you panic?  Late one night in Mexico a man tried to hold me up.  Instantly I said “In the name of Jesus you will not touch me.”  A spirit of fear came over the man, and he jumped into his pickup, and rolled his window up.  I could see fear all over his face, because he must have seen the angels protecting me as seen in Psalm 91:11.

Prayer Thought

When a train goes through the tunnel and it gets dark, you don’t throw away the ticket and jump off.  You sit still and trust the engineer.

GOD WORKING

THROUGH YOU

Daniel 11:32 Those who do wickedly against the covenant he shall corrupt with flattery; but the people who know their God shall be strong, and carry out great exploits.

Many in the world are facing very troublesome times and don’t know where to turn.  God is looking for people who are willing to allow Him to use them.  The world needs to see a demonstration of His love and divine favor.  The phrase “Great exploits” refer to: bold, unusual outstanding deeds and heroic actions.  Many believers will not fall into this category because they have not been filling their spirits with the promises of God.  They are controlled by the circumstances, instead of being used by God to allow situations to change. During the times of trouble ahead of you, the enemy of your soul will receive much glory for the problems he causes.  God wants to receive greater glory through you, by meetings many needs.

Prayer Thought

Pray as if everything depended on God, and work as if everything depended on you.  James 2:26 says “Faith without works is dead!”

August 26

GOD WANTS

TO BLESS YOU

Deuteronomy 28:2 And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God.

The word “overtake” has two meanings.  The first refers to a car passing another car on the highway.  Supposing the slower car is doing forty miles per hour, and the second car passes him at over ninety miles, you say “he overtook the slower car.”  All the slower car sees, are the tail lights of the faster car.  The second meaning refers to catching and holding onto the person.  A small child runs away from his father and says, “You can’t catch me Daddy.”  The father takes three or four steps and pick him up in his arms, and says, “I’ve got you.”  God wants His blessings to grab you and not let go, because you want to do your Heavenly Father’s will to help meet other people’s needs.  Ask Him what His will is for the fulfilment of this verse in your life.

Prayer Thought

Plant blessings in other people’s lives, and you’ll reap double blessings in our own, with joy added for good measure!

RAIN SENT

WHEN NEEDED

Deuteronomy 28:12 The Lord will open to you His good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow.

Many areas are having severe drought, or considerable flooding.  Neither of these could be called God’s good treasure from heaven.  God wants to bless the work of your hands, and enable you to be a blessing to many others.  You are to use your “tools” by claiming His promises.  Several years ago the weather man at a television station in Texas did a good job of reporting the weather, however when a bad storm would come, he would point to the place on the map, then say “In the name of Jesus it will not take place.”  One day he was fired because of what he had been saying.  The next day over two thousand phone calls came into the station, demanding his return, and as a result he returned to work.

Prayer Thought

It is not the greatness of your faith that will move the mountain or still the storm, but your faith in the greatness of God!

POWER OF

THE TONGUE

Proverbs 12:13 The wicked is ensnared by the transgression of his lips, but the righteous will come through trouble. 14. A man will be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth, and the recompense of a man’s hands will be rendered to him.

What you say CONTROLS you.  Satan is aware that God’s power stands behind your words when you say what you believe.  He will give you thoughts that will allow God’s power to work against you.  He wants you to speak words of doubt, fear and unbelief.  The more you talk of fear, the more fearful you become.  People have sneezed a couple of times, and then stated, “I believe I’m catching a cold,” and ended up receiving what they claimed.  Their negative words acted as a sword to destroy their faith to receive divine protection or something good.  The Lord wants you to be satisfied with good, by the fruit of your mouth.  Guard your mouth, ask the Lord to direct you, so that your words will always work for you, see Psalm 19:14.

Prayer Thought

Remember Mark 11, “Whoever says, those things he says shall come to pass, and he shall have what he says.”  What do want in your life from God?  Say it!August 28

GOD HONORING

YOUR WORDS

Job 22:28 You will also declare a thing, and it will be established for you; so light will shine on your ways.

The answers to your prayers come by using the faith of God WITH the right confession.  A negative confession states the problem, and a positive one is depending on the promises of God.  Supposing a person steps onto an outside fire escape of a burning building, but it brakes loose from the building.  As he is falling he repeats several times, “I’m not falling,” he will find that his positive words accomplish nothing.  But if he were to say “In the name of Jesus, when I stop falling,  I will not be hurt,” then he will find that what he declared will come to pass.  Three things need to be remembered when declaring something that will take divine power to accomplish.  The first is finding out the will of God for that item.  The second is speaking - using divine faith, and the third is timing.  Before claiming this verse ask the Lord to direct your words.

Prayer Thought

The promise “He shall have whatsoever he says” (Mark 11:23) is a two edged sword; it can work for you or against you, depending on what you say!

GUARDING

YOUR WORDS

Hebrews 10:23 Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for He who promised is faithful.

Often people have more faith in the enemy’s ability to give them problems than they have in the power of God to supply their needs.  In God’s eyes this is unbelief.  The Word of God is not void of power, it is only powerless when it is not spoken or believed.  God will not give you something that is contrary to His Word.  He will also hold back on things that are contrary to His will, otherwise you will receive answers to many foolish requests.  It is possible to go beyond His will, by using divine faith, and demand the answer.  You will get that answer, but you may be very sorry because you demanded it.  God is faithful to His Word and promises.  Depend on them in a far greater way than you have ever done before, expecting the Lord to direct you what to ask for.

Prayer Thought

Make this your heart’s desire, your ambition, that you might please God with your life, your time, your talents, your money, your all, Hebrews 11:5.  You can’t go wrong!

OVERCOMING

PROBLEMS

John 14:12 Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. 13. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it.

Do you really believe that Jesus meant what He said when he said the above words?  Once I was driving a pickup along the coast, over 500 miles south of the United States, and ahead of me was the tail end of a hurricane. The back of the pickup had my electric generator, projector, as well as flour, sugar and other things to be given away.  It was raining very hard, and I knew the water would spoil my supplies, so I spoke to the rain, “In the name of Jesus move out to sea.”  The rain stopped falling on the road and moved to the sea.  As soon as I had passed that area, the rain returned to the land.

Prayer Thought

You needn’t worry whether you have faith or not.  All you need to do is decide to apply the faith you already have in the right direction!

RECEIVING

BENEFITS DAILY

Psalm 68:19 Blessed be the Lord, Who daily loads us with benefits, the God of our salvation!

God’s benefits for you will never run out, because He has an inexhaustible supply.  He is more willing to meet your need than you are willing to receive.  So many times people try to rely on their own resources instead of depending on the Creator of resources, who has for the asking, such things as:

Wisdom: Far fewer poor decisions would be made if people would rely on divine wisdom, which God wants to give.

Guidance: The Holy Sprit wants to guide you daily.

Health: God wants to renew your youth, Psalm 103:5.

For I am the Lord who heals you - Exodus 15:26

Finances: My God will meet all your need, Phil. 4:19.

Prayer Thought

Are you in need of some of His benefits?  He says you don’t have because you don’t ask.  Is that where you are?  Then ask!

USING GOD’S

METHODS

John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

God gave you a pattern, and Jesus started it by giving you the world you live in.  He gave you life, as well as everything around you.  God showed His love to you in the greatest possible way, by GIVING you His Son. God’s method was to GIVE FIRST, and then to receive.  He showed His love to you FIRST and then you were to give your love to Him.  In order to receive blessings from God, you must FIRST GIVE.  The satanic forces have bound many Christians with a spirit of poverty.  They hardly seem to really expect that God will meet their needs.  This is because they copy the world which teaches: “In order to get, I have to take.”  A farmer plants first and then expects to get a harvest, to meet His needs.  Ask the Lord what he wants you to plant, as well as where to plant.

Prayer Thought

Love doesn’t take - love gives and gives some more!  If Christians gave as the body of Christ - there would be no need!

GIVE AND IT WILL

BE GIVEN TO YOU

Luke 6:38 Give, and it will be given to you: good measure, pressed down, shaken together, and running over will be put into your bosom. For with the same measure that you use, it will be measured back to you.

A lady came to her pastor and asked him why she was always helping people as well as helping around the church, but was continually having a financial need.  The pastor asked her: “Do people help you?”  She immediately replied “yes.”  He asked her if people smiled at her when she smiled at them.  She immediately replied yes.  The pastor’s reply was: “You are reaping what you are sowing.  When you smile at someone, they will smile back at you.  You do good things for others, and you are reaping the same kind of harvest.”  He told her to start planting in a financial way, and she would see a different type of harvest.

Prayer Thought

Your life consists of what you are sowing.  If you don’t like your crop - dig it up and plant a new one!

AFFECTING

THE WHOLE BODY

1 Corinthians 12:25. So that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. 26. If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it.  N.I.V.

A person with a problem in his body will not be able to work as well as someone who is well, because this  causes the rest of the body to be weakened.  The same is true of the church.  The people who are not tithing are spiritually sick, because they are affected by a curse that they have walked into, see Malachi 3:9. The efficiency of the entire body of Christ, is affected, because you can spiritually affect others.  The weights that are holding most churches from accomplishing the goals God has for them, are not what you would call gross sins.  They are disobedience to God’s Word concerning tithing.  God will be able to use you a lot more, if you become obedient in tithing.

Prayer Thought

The way God designed our bodies is a model for understanding our lives together in a church; every part is dependant on every other part.  You are Christ’s body - that’s who you are!

LOSING

GOD’S BLESSINGS

1 Corinthians 12:12 For as the body is one and has many members, but all the members of that one body, being many, are one body, so also is Christ.

On one occasion a church had thirty members, and all tithed very faithfully.  When people came forward for prayer for healing, most of the time they left healed.  Over a period of time the church grew to several thousand members.  The new people did not have the same vision as the early members, so tithing dropped to thirty percent. Many more were coming forward for healing, but few were being healed. The pastor was accused of losing the anointing of the Lord.  He told them the anointing for healing left because most of the people were no longer living in obedience to the Word in their tithing.  After teaching on tithing, the people began to change their attitudes toward tithing.  Ninety percent of that church are presently tithing, and the power of the Holy Spirit is being demonstrated again.

Prayer Thought

Giving God the leftovers didn’t originate with Old Testament giving habits.  If they tithed before Christ came, surely we should at least do as much.  Quit tipping God and start tithing.

PUTTING GOD

TO THE TEST

Malachi 3:10 “Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and prove Me now in this,” says the Lord of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you such blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it.”

After reading Malachi 3:7-10, you may have felt that you had to perform a duty, and so gave money to the church because you felt it was an obligation.  The One who is really obligated is God.  He obligates Himself to giving you a harvest, meeting your needs as well as stopping the things that destroy your possessions. When you see that giving to the Lord is a privilege, because of the benefits, you will become a cheerful giver. Many churches are under tremendous financial pressure, because blessings from the Lord are being withheld.  Realize that your personal actions will affect the rest of the body as well.

Prayer Thought

After all He’s done for you - obedience is a small price to pay.  True trust, true faith drops its letter in the post box and lets go.  Distrust holds on to the corner of it, and wonders that the answer never comes.

WHERE SHOULD YOU

GIVE YOUR TITHES?

Malachi 3:10 “Bring all the tithes into the storehouse, that there may be food in My house, and prove Me now in this,” says the Lord of hosts, ....

Some people attend one place, but send their “tithes” to another ministry. They become disobedient to the Lord, because He classifies it only as an offering, and not tithes. This action robs them of many blessings. Supposing I had a friend who owned a restaurant, but I chose to eat at another restaurant.  What would happen when it came time to pay the bill, if I told the cashier that instead of paying them, I would give the money to the people at the other restaurant?  They could accuse me of trying to defraud their restaurant.  We fall into the same category when we send our tithes to another ministry. Tithes belong to the church you attend and get fed, offerings can be given there, as well as sent to other ministries.

Prayer Thought

When you support your home church, God will pour out His blessings because you are being obedient.  He is your final authority.

REBUKING

THE DEVOURER

Malachi 3:11 “And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, so that he will not destroy the fruit of your ground, nor shall the vine fail to bear fruit for you in the field,” says the Lord of hosts;

Many people are afraid of thieves breaking into their homes.  God will prevent them from coming and wasting your goods if you take normal precautions.  He wants to help you in every area of your life, but you must do your part by meeting the conditions.  It’s not necessary to ask the Lord about your tithes, but it’s very necessary to find the will of the Lord to know how much seed to plant, which is in addition to your tithes, and where to plant it.

1.   Bring your tithes to your local church.

2.   Plant “seed” or money, in excess of your tithes, for the work of the Lord so He can give you a large harvest to meet all your needs.

Prayer Thought

If God has not been meeting your needs, perhaps you have not been putting Him first.  My responsibility is to plant seed - God will meet the need!

SOWING IN LEAN TIMES

Genesis 26:12 Then Isaac sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year a hundredfold; and the Lord blessed him.  13.  The man began to prosper, and continued prospering until he became very prosperous.

At one time Isaac was faced with a bad famine, but  God told him to stay and plant seed.  His harvest during the time of the drought was a hundredfold.  This was because he was directed by the Lord and obeyed Him.  Isaac’s neighbors planted nothing that year, and when the harvest came the Philistines envied him because they had no crops.  They had to come to him to buy his crops if they wanted to stay alive.  Later on the people ran out of money, and exchanged their animals for food.  When they ran out of animals they had to work for the very man they hated.  You might be in a time of unemployment or illness, don’t look at your lack, but look to the Lord to provide seed.

Prayer Thought

Banks may close and money may be devalued, but God’s Word is sure forever!  Feed your spirit on faith building Word.

September 16

STOPPING YOUR HARVEST

Galatians 6:9 And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.

Many Christians have planted seed in the past, expecting to get a harvest to meet their needs.  Problems arose which caused them to stop planting, which may have been unemployment, illness, or accident. They now feel they can not continue to tithe, and plant additional seed.  They stopped their giving, which stopped the harvest from coming. The moment you stop paying your tithes or claiming that you are sending it to a ministry that is not the one you normally attend, you step out of the protection of the Lord.  You have just stepped into the hand of Satan, which allows him to start a bigger attack against you.  This allows Satan to stop God from meeting your needs.  Since when is Satan capable of stopping God from blessing you?

Prayer Thought

The Lord still sees the gift and the attitude of the giver.  He also knows if you have reached a point of sacrifice in your giving.

WHATEVER
A MAN SOWS

Galatians 6:7 Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap.

People who sow carnal seed will always reap a harvest of carnality.  They will think like the world, but be unable to understand the things of the Lord.  Christians who are constantly filling their spirits with the promises of God, and applying them, will see a harvest for their efforts as well. Financial freedom and giving are directly linked together.  There can be no financial freedom through divine help, without giving.  God wants to bless you, so you can be a blessing to others.  A blessing is an instrument of God, through which His divine favor flows through you to someone else.  If you are not willing to be a blessing to others, you will find that God’s blessings will stop coming to you.  When you make giving a part of your nature, then you will progressively see God’s blessings on your life increase.

Prayer Thought

If you limit God’s plan to your logic - you’ll fail.  God’s Word will not work for you - unless you apply it!

GIVING OUT OF LOVE

2 Corinthians 9:7 So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.

Some Christians are like the little girl who sat next to her father one service.  He had given her a dollar to put in the offering, and reminded her that God loves a cheerful giver.  She began to whisper to the usher when the offering plate came around.  Her father wanted to know what was the problem.  The usher told him that his daughter wanted change for the dollar.  Her father told her to put the money in, because God loves a cheerful giver. The child’s immediate response was, “But I’d be a lot more cheerful if I had change for a candy bar.”

Another problem is spasmodic planting.  Some only plant when there is a special appeal, or when they feel like it.  The person who consistently plants, will see the desired harvest.  Give to God because you want to, not because you have to.

Prayer thought

You can give to God without loving Him, but can’t love Him without giving to Him.  The human spirit once stretched by an adventure of faith, will never return to it’s original size!

PERSONAL
PROFIT

John 12:24 Most assuredly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it produces much grain.

God expects you to start planting seed above the “rent” if you want to receive a harvest.  Often Christians resemble “squatters” by the way they treat the Lord.  They refuse to pay  “rent” for all of His blessings, then wonder why they have problems.  The tithe or “rent” is not to be used to meet your personal obligations. Your offerings are not “seed” if you expect personal recognition or gain, they must become useless or dead, releasing all personal claim to the giver.  Some have stopped giving because they have felt that the Pastor or Church Board was acting irresponsibly.  This can be changed by prayer, but is not an excuse for you to stop obeying the Lord in your giving.  When you freely give to God, He freely blesses you.

Prayer Thought

If you major in what’s right in God’s sight, you don’t have to worry about what it will look like in man’s eyes.

GOD’S PROMISES ARE VALUABLE

Isaiah 55:11 So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

Over the years all of us have been promised things that never took place.  Politicians, attorneys, doctors, as well as many other professionals have made promises that they could not back up.  Many times these people had good intentions, but circumstances prevented them from fulfilling the promise.  God is not only able to fulfill the promises He makes, but also tells you He will fulfill them.  The Bible is full of His promises, He wants you to depend on them, and apply them to the situations you are in.  Look for ones that will overcome the problems your are in today.  Next, ask Him what His will is for you, because sometimes the timing is not right.  Always expect Him to honor His promises in your life.

Prayer Thought

Focus on God’s promises - not on the problems.  For no promise of God can fail to be fulfilled.  Luke 1:37- Phillips.September 28

GUARDING YOUR WORDS

Ephesians 3:20  Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.

The spirit world is controlled by the power of God that is released through the Word of God.  The natural world is to be controlled by man through the power of God, and is done by quoting God’s promises in the Bible. These spoken words become creative power, because God’s power is already at work in you.  In Proverbs 6:2 Solomon tells you that you become trapped by the words of your mouth.  Your words become tools to allow the power of God to flow through you which will work for or against you, depending on what you say. Negative words which contradict the promises of God, cause His power to produce the things you don’t want in your life.  Guard your words so that you say what you want, instead of what you don’t want.

Prayer Thought

You never have to take back what you don’t say.  Your mouth must take authority over your thoughts!

September 30

WATCH HOW YOU HEAR

Mark 4:24  And He said to them, “Take heed what you hear. With the same measure you use, it will be measured to you; and to you who hear, more will be given.

Luke 8:18 Therefore take heed how you hear.  For whoever has, to him more will be given; and whoever does not have, even what he seems to have will be taken from him.

Many people fill their minds with trivial things or  allow distractions to keep God’s good seed from being planted in their spirits.  You are told to watch what you hear, as well as to watch how you hear.  The people who are not paying attention to this, will find their faith becoming ineffective. The more you pay attention to the teachings of God, the more He allows you to receive.  Paying less attention to His promises, causes faith in His promises to diminish.

Prayer Thought

Defeat comes from looking back, distractions comes from looking down.  Victory comes from looking up!

A CLEAN LIFE

2 Corinthians 7:1 Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

God has many wonderful promises for us, but many times we are prevented from receiving them because of a lack of holiness.  In the above verse you are told to cleanse yourself from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, because you can be influenced by the things of the world.  Picture in your mind a lady with a white dress standing at the corner, waiting to cross the street.  A car comes around the corner and splashes muddy water on her dress.  She was not responsible for the action of the driver, but she was affected by his actions.  There will be times when you are affected by attitudes or thoughts which are not the will of the Lord for your life.  Allow the Holy Spirit to remind you, then take control, asking God to direct you.

Prayer Thought

“Cleanse my heart, oh Lord, make me ever new.  Cleanse my heart, oh Lord, may I be like You.”

PERFECTED IN HOLINESS

2 Corinthians 7:1 Therefore, having these promises, beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

Perfecting holiness in a person’s life seems to be a foreign language to some people.  One of the steps to this is “in the fear of God.”  The fear of the Lord is a referential trust and becomes a controlling motive of life concerning spiritual and moral matters.  Your greatest desire is not wanting to displease Him in thought, word or deed.  People may tell you, “That is easier said than done,” however it is very possible when you put the Lord in first place in your life and expect the Holy Spirit to direct you on an hourly basis. The Lord wants to help you, by working through you, to show the world that He is in control, and will enable you to overcome the satanic attacks.  Expect to see victory in your life today.

Prayer Thought

Ask Him for help - He’s just waiting to be asked.  Why not let God have your life?  He can do more with it than you can!

PUTTING ON THE NEW MAN

Ephesians 4:24 And that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in righteousness and true holiness.

Your old nature which came from Adam and Eve is frequently rebellious toward the things of God.  It wants to have its own way, instead of allowing the Holy Spirit control your life.  Getting even for wrongs done to you, are frequent thoughts that will come to the person with this nature.  Romans 12:19 tells us that vengeance is God’s, and He will repay.  The person who has determined to live in righteousness and true holiness will commit his problem to the Lord and allow Him to take care of the results.  The old thoughts will still come, but you don’t need to let them lodge in your mind.  God wants to help you, but He is expecting you to use the tools He has given you.  One of them is the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, Ephesians 6:17.

Prayer Thought

Planting good or bad seed is our choice of what kind of harvest we expect.  All of the flowers of all of the tomorrows are in the seeds of today.

WORSHIPING IN THE
BEAUTY OF HOLINESS

Psalm 29:2 Give unto the Lord the glory due to His name; worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.

Throughout the Bible you are encouraged to first approach God through praise and worship.  A secret few realize is that God’s power starts to be released to you through true praise.  The evil forces realize this, and will give you thoughts to try to distract you when you start to praise the Lord.  Why do people not see many victories during the time of praise and worship in some places?  They may not be expecting answers, and are not believing for them.  However a bigger reason is some may not be worshiping in the beauty of holiness.  In the sight of the Lord true holiness is not a part of your nature, and it gets covered up by a religious mask.  The time will come when this mask will be ripped off and will be exposed.  Start every day with praise and worship, then ask for divine guidance.

Prayer Thought

Praise cleanses, praise changes you into His image, and praise strengthens.  Make it a habit to form good habits; they’re as hard to break as bad ones.

CONTROLLING OUR
THOUGHT LIFE

2 Corinthians 10:4 For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5. casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ.

Spiritual battles start in your mind to try to get you sidetracked to stop you from obeying the plan of the Lord.  You have the responsibility to take control of your thoughts.  Once I was talking with a man, and a young lady with a loose fitting blouse, was standing next to him.  She dropped her keys, and bent down to pick them up.  I immediately looked at the man’s face, so that I would not see her bending over.  I said to myself: “I don’t need that information.”  When you frequently have the attitude that “one look is worth a thousand words,” you may open the door for the satanic forces to build strongholds in your mind.

Prayer Thought

The Bible makes an astonishing promise: “That out of your weakness shall come strength,” Hebrews 11:34.  Where you are weak, you will be made strong!

HOLY FOR THE LORD

1 Thessalonians 3:13 So that He may establish your hearts blameless in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ with all His saints.

When I was four years old I went with my grandparents to the Cape (South Africa), and one day we were walking on a pier overlooking the Indian Ocean.  My grandfather was holding my hand when suddenly a strong gust of wind lifted me completely off my feet.  My grandfather held tightly to my hand to keep me from being blown away.  You can be held by the Lord to keep you from slipping away from a life of holiness.  If you try to pull away or frequently depend on your own understanding, instead of allowing Him to direct you, you will start to slip out of His control.  Your desire should be to have your heart established in holiness before God, to enable you to be blameless before Him.  Ask the Holy Spirit to direct you in everything you do today!

Prayer Thought

It’s up to you how you act or react.  You’re going to have trouble, but see to it you’re not troubled.  If you never have trouble, you’ll never be an over-comer.

October 7

GIVING GLORY
DUE HIS NAME!

1 Chronicles 16:29 Give to the Lord the glory due His name; bring an offering, and come before Him. Oh, worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness!

God expects everyone to give glory due His name when they worship Him, and the first requirement is a right attitude during worship.  Since worship and praise can be given to the Lord in any location or circumstance, maintain an attitude that will enable you to burst forth in praise and worship in every situation.  You may say that this will be impossible, however if this was not possible, Paul would not have said, “In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you,” 1 Thess. 5:18.  Two more things that are brought out are to bring an offering and to worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness.  Both of these are lacking in the lives of many who claim to be Christians.  Determine in your heart that you are going to obey the Lord and be an example to others.

Prayer Thought

Christians have what the world needs, but do you live so they want what you have?  Persons thankful for little things, are certain to be the ones with much to be thankful for!

PRAISING THE LORD

Psalm 22:3 But You are holy, Who inhabit the praises of Israel.

God inhabits the praises of His people!  You need to realize that when you are praising the Lord, the presence of the Lord is filling the place you are in.  There are possibly more verses in the Bible devoted to praise and worship than any other subject.  Take a look at how much time you spend complaining or worrying, in comparison to time spent praising the Lord for the answers.  When you praise the Lord, you allow the Holy Spirit to work through you.  He will drive away the spirits of doubt, fear, unbelief, or any other kind of satanic spirit that might be trying to affect you.  God has instructed you many times in the Bible to spend time praising Him.  The more you sincerely praise the Lord, the more He will give you something to praise Him about.  Put Him to the test today, and start expecting to see results.

Prayer Thought

If you want God to move in your situation, you’ve got to praise Him!  The key to moving God is faith in God’s Word bathed in praise!

          HEAVEN IS A

          HOLY PLACE

Psalm 93:5 Your testimonies are very sure; holiness adorns Your house, O Lord, forever.

Heaven is adorned with holiness, which means NO one who is not holy will enter Heaven.  Many claim they are on their way to Heaven, but will find when they pass away, they will be turned down. Matthew 7:21 states, “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.”  Church attendance alone does not make a person holy, neither do good works.  It’s not outward appearance, but an inward lifestyle that really counts.  Obeying God’s commandments and living for Him in thought, word and deed start the process.  God wants to work in and through you in a great way, but He needs a full commitment on your part.  Jesus tells you, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”

Prayer Thought

“Lord, make my life a window for your light to shine through, and a mirror to reflect your love to all I meet.”  - R. Schueller.

LIVING IN
HOLINESS

1 Thessalonians 4:7 For God did not call us to uncleanness, but in holiness.

The opposite of holiness, in the above verse, is un-cleanness.  In the eyes of the Lord people who are not living holy lives are unclean, sometimes in thoughts, words or actions.  There are times when someone may come to your door, and you really didn’t want to see them, but responded with, “I’m so happy to see you.”  Another example is when you owe some money, but don’t have it at the time, but find yourself saying on the phone, “The check is already in the mail.”  Both examples are untruthful statements, and in the eyes of the Lord, this is not living a holy life.  The biggest loss that occurs in many businesses is not from break-ins, but from the employees themselves.  The attitude, “it’s not much” when taking something, is still robbing the person of holiness.  Serve the Lord whole heartedly, instead of only part time.

Prayer Thought

The practice of honesty is more convincing than the profession of holiness.  So live that Christ will be seen in all your dealings.

SET FREE
FROM SIN

Romans 6:22 But now having been set free from sin, and having become slaves of God, you have your fruit to holiness, and the end, everlasting life.

A transformation takes place in your life as you determine in your spirit that you will not conform to or imitate the world.  There must be a determination on your part to completely follow the Lord.  Sometimes temptations will be hard to resist, however the Lord is always ready to help you.  1 Corinthians 10:13 tells you, “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.”  Determine to totally follow the Lord, regardless of what others are doing.  As temptations come, use Scripture to come against them, which will enable you to be victorious.

Prayer Thought

Darkness knows it has no strength against the person who is focused on Christ!  If you’re ever going to “walk on water” you’re going to have to get out of the boat!

A CROP OF
HOLINESS

Galatians 6:8 For he who sows to his flesh will of the flesh reap corruption, but he who sows to the Spirit will of the Spirit reap everlasting life.

Living a holy life doesn’t come by accident, it takes persistence.  It’s easy to slide down a hill, but it’s a lot more difficult to climb the hill.  Sowing to the flesh is easy, because the majority of the world is doing it.  The theme of the Book of Judges is, “Everyone did what was right in his own eyes.”  A crop of holiness is possible when you make a decided effort to have a lifestyle of holiness.  Your primary goal is to please the Lord in thought, word and deed.  When you make this your focus, you find the Lord enables you to reach your goal.  The ultimate goal is everlasting life, and being with the Lord for all of eternity. Some will leave you alone because they don’t like your lifestyle, yet others, when they run into a real emergency will ask you to pray for them.

Prayer Thought

Success is to be measured, not so much by the position that one has reached in life, as by the obstacles which he has overcome while trying to succeed.

HOLINESS -
DEAD TO SIN

Romans 6:11 Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.  12.  Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts. 14.  For sin shall not have dominion over you, for you are not under law but under grace.

Once a lady told me that we were only human and each of us had to sin a little every day.  She was greatly mistaken because you have been redeemed from the power of sin, and are no longer a slave to it.  When you are tempted you have a choice.  You can yield to it, or you can pay attention to what James 4:7 states: “Therefore submit to God.  Resist the devil and he will flee from you.”  The enemy has to leave with his temptation when you come against Him in the name of Jesus.  Don’t be fooled by the idea that you have no choice.  God not only gave you a choice, but the ability to resist all temptations.

Prayer Thought

Wishing will never make a substitute for prayer.  Ask! God has decreed to act in response to prayer.  “Ask” He commands you, and Satan trembles for fear you will.  It’s your choice.

LIVING A
HOLY LIFE

Colossians 3:8 But now you must also put off all these: anger, wrath, malice, blasphemy, filthy language out of your mouth.

Living a holy life is not a list of do’s and don’ts, but a lifestyle of a person who no longer has the desire to mimic the ways of the world.  A young lady got saved and started to witness to her brother.  He asked her what being a Christian was all about, and she immediately gave him a list of things he shouldn’t do.  He turned her down, but six months later accepted the Lord.  He came back to her and told her what had happened.  Then he told her that if she had explained the good side of being a Christian, he would have accepted the Lord the first time.  Putting off the things listed in the above verse, will not become a drudgery, but you will find the Lord takes away the desire to do them.  You are given new desires because the Holy Spirit is being allowed to control your life.

Prayer Thought

God is looking for men and women who will stand on His Word, believing that if He said it, He will do it, and if He spoke it, He will bring it to pass. - R. W. Schambach.

TWO
CONTRARY SIDES

Galatians 5:17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.

The moment you receive Jesus as your personal Savior a fight within you starts.  Your spirit was changed, but the enemy wants to get you back on his side.  He will bring all types of thoughts or temptations to you to get you to turn away from the Lord.  You will wish to do right, but the other part of you wants you to do wrong.  The winning side will be the one that is fed the most.  When you fill your spirit with trivia, or ideas that will lead you away from the Lord, you will be more apt to yield to temptations.  Paul gives you a good list to think on in Philippians 4:8.  The more you fill your mind with thoughts that will be uplifting, the easier it will be for your spirit to turn down things that would distract you from the Lord.

Prayer Thought

You can believe all day long that the Bible is true - and that’s to your credit - but what the Bible says will never affect your life in a personal way, until you start acting on God’s Word.

CREATED IN
GOD’S IMAGE

Genesis 1:26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.”

God was not created in your image, you were created in His image.  He is expecting you to reflect His image in your life, which should attract others to desire to be like Him. A child may not look like its parents as a baby, but as time progresses, its features will reflect those of its parents.  Holiness is the key to your reflecting the Lord in a greater way.  A commitment to live a holy life will enable you to drop off things or habits that don’t reflect His image.  Matthew 5:16 tells you, “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”  Reflect Him more daily.

Prayer Thought

The health of a garden plant or a heart devoted to God, reflects what’s going on (or not going on) underground.

JUSTIFIED BY
OBEDIENCE

Romans 2:13 For not the hearers of the law are just in the sight of God, but the doers of the law will be justified.

Justification is an often misunderstood word, because many think its  the same as regeneration, which is the new birth.  The new birth involves your personal inner condition, whereas justification has to do with your standing before God.  You are declared righteous in the sight of God, when you accept the payment for your sins, which was paid by Jesus on the cross.  Your standing before God will be affected by your lifestyle.  Falling short of His expectations for you, will not remove your standing before Him, providing you come to Him and ask for forgiveness.  The problem comes when your lifestyle is one of being a hearer of the Word, and not a doer of it.  Proverbs 28:13 says, “He who covers his sins will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes them will have mercy.”

Prayer Thought

It’s easy to dodge your responsibility, but you can’t dodge its consequences.  When you’re exonerated, you’re justified, (as if you never did it,) so - walk forgiven.

LIVING A
HOLY LIFE

Romans 6:1 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound?  2.  Certainly not!  How shall we who died to sin live any longer in it?

Sanctification and a holy life are the fruits of justification.  To remain justified, it is necessary for you to maintain a holy life.  Hebrews 12:14 tells you, “Pursue peace with all men, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord.”  Living in sin is contrary to the nature and will of God, and becomes a stench in His nostrils.  Some feel they can continue to be a Christian, and live a sinful life as well.  They are mistaken, and unless they choose to change their ways, will find they will be rejected by the Lord in the end.  You are to be a reflection of the character and  nature of Jesus, which is wholly dedicated to the Lord.  Remember, the Holy Spirit is here to help you live for the Lord, moment by moment.  Allow Him to help you.

Prayer Thought

When the storms strike, it’s what happens “in” you that will determine what happens “to” you.  It’s not the size of your faith that counts but the God behind your faith!

October 21

PEACE AND
HOLINESS

Hebrews 12:14 Pursue peace with all men, and holiness, without which no one will see the Lord.

The actions of the people of the world are based on the theme of the book of Judges, which is, “Everyone did what was right in his own eyes,” Judges 17:6.  You can’t afford to follow in their ways if your desire is to be a reflection of Jesus.  Holiness and peace are necessary to qualify you to see the Lord.  Some will compromise to have peace without conflict, but don’t consider the necessity of holiness in their actions.  They mix all kinds of worldliness with their Christianity, hoping the Lord will overlook it.  There are others who have a bitter spirit, or refuse to forgive others, and fail to realize this disqualifies them from a life of holiness.  Ask the Holy Spirit to show you if there is anything displeasing to the Lord in your life today.  Find out how He wants you to resolve the issue, so that you can be pleasing to Him in every area of your life.

Prayer Thought

Nothing you produce out of you will make it.  - “God empty me of me and fill me with You.”  Your own thoughts and attitudes are the devil’s armor.

PURIFYING YOURSELF

1 John 3:2 Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. 3. And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.

As a Child of God you have a great promise, of the day that will come when you will be like Him, and will see the Lord as He is.  God has given you the obligation to purify yourself if you want to see the fulfilment of this promise.  He has given you a new nature, as well as the ability to say NO to temptation.  John 15:3 points out that you are cleansed because of the Word.  This will not take place if you keep your Bible on a shelf, but will only happen if you read and apply it.  Learn to love to read your Bible; ask the Lord to enable you to understand and apply it.  This will cause you to become a strong Christian.

Prayer Thought

Pray that God will create in you such an all-consuming hunger to know Him in a greater way, and to long to follow Him.  All He wants and needs is a hungry willing heart.

KEEPING GOD’S
COMMANDMENTS

John 14:21 He who has My commandments and keeps them, it is he who loves Me.  And he who loves Me will be loved by My Father, and I will love him and manifest Myself to him.

Jesus states that your love for Him will be demonstrated by the way you keep His commandments.  Many say they love the Lord, but their love is only a superficial one, because they are not really obeying His will for their lives.  Notice the next thing mentioned in the above verse.  You are loved by the Father because you keep His commandments.  Jesus will manifest Himself to you,  as you spend more time with Him and get to know Him better.  Is the real desire of your life to follow the Lord at a distance, and still make it to Heaven?  Or is your desire to be as close to Him as possible, so that you will have a very intimate relationship with Him?  You are the one to make the choice.

Prayer Thought

To each of you is given a bag of tools, a shapeless mass and a book of rules.  And each must make ere life is flown, a stumbling block or a stepping stone.

LIVING A PURE LIFE

1 Peter 2:11 Beloved, I beg you as sojourners and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts which war against the soul (mind).

God and His Word must always be primary in your life, your thoughts and motives.  Any thought that is contrary to these goals must be turned down. The enemy cannot read your mind, but will give you thoughts and then watch your reactions and facial expressions to see how you respond.  Be on guard at all times, because he will come when you least expect it. His purpose is to get you side-tracked from the Lord’s will for you. There will be times when you are praying, and a thought will come to you which was not of the Lord.  1 John 4:1 tells you to test the spirits.  False prophets are around because they failed to test the messages or thoughts they had, then claimed they were messages from the Lord.  The Lord will give you peace when the message is from Him.

Prayer Thought

Be encouraged!  God will use everything in your life to prepare you for His glory, even your failures.  God likes to work in such a way that He gets all the glory.

HOLY IN
ALL CONDUCT

1 Peter 1:14 As obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; 15.  but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, 16.  because it is written, “Be holy, for I am holy.”

God is a holy God, and has called you to live a holy life in all your conduct.  There will be things you could do and get away with, but these would detract from the reflection of God’s nature in you.  A pastor was once asked to go with a couple to a questionable play.  He declined, so they told him it would not affect his salvation.  His response was, “If I was a surgeon and had just gotten ready to perform surgery, would I become contaminated if I took out the garbage?  The answer was yes, so he told them he could not afford to become contaminated by the play if they expected him to be an effective counselor.  Be directed by the Holy Spirit, so you will be able to be used by Him.

Prayer Thought

Don’t let the world around you squeeze you into it’s mold.  If you are the salt of the earth, then you have to get out of the saltshaker.  Even if you’re as small as a grain of salt, the world needs salt for flavoring.

DEDICATED
TO HOLINESS

1 Corinthians 6:19 Or do you not know that your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God, and you are not your own?  20.  For you were bought at a price; therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s.

The battle for salvation was won on the cross and in the empty tomb, but the battle for surrendering to the will of God, is won by relying on God’s power in the daily decisions of your life.  God paid a very high price for your redemption, and doesn’t want to lose you.  He is expecting you to glorify Him, by living a holy life that’s pleasing to Him, giving Him your best.  The secret is to run from things that will pull you down.  When you are tempted to do something wrong, start thinking about a Scripture to come against it.  Quote that verse to the enemy, because that acts as a sword to cause him great pain.

Prayer Thought

You can never become what you want to be until you drop what you used to be.  Trouble is going to come, but it doesn’t have to overcome.  Resist the enemy and he MUST to flee.

October 28

HOLY AND
WITHOUT BLAME

Ephesians 1:4 Just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in love.

The above verse points out that you are held blameless before God.  This does not give you the right to go out and sin any time you want to, but you have the assurance that every time you ask for His forgiveness, God will hear you and remove the sin from your life, see 1 John 1:9.  You are under this protection as long as you continue to place your faith in Jesus.  When you take your eyes off the Creator, and spend more time looking or lusting after part of His creation, you will start to slip out from under the protection that was made available to you.  Problems come when you rely on your own strength and walk away from His protection, which is  a choice on your part.  Keep your eyes on God’s wonderful grace, and remain under His protection.

Prayer Thought

Remember the old song? “Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face; and the things of this old world will go strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace.”

CONTROLLING
THE CARNAL NATURE

Galatians 5:24 And those who are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires.

Taking control of the carnal nature is a very difficult task for some people, because they frequently fall back into sin.  With some it’s easy losing their temper, with others it might be bad language, gossip, or many other problems.  Why is it so difficult to gain victory over a  situation?  One night a little boy fell out of bed, so his mother asked him why it happened.  He told her he guessed he was too close to the edge he got in.  When you stay too close to the ways of the world, it will be easy to fall back into their ways.  The secret of success in the Christian life is to see how close you can get to the Lord.  Keep a very short list of things you have done wrong by going to the Lord as soon as you are reminded of wrong doing.  He will immediately forgive you, and not hold it against you.

Prayer Thought

Stay so far from the problem that you can’t possibly fall.  There’s a saying, “Don’t make love to the world or you’ll get pregnant with the thinking of the world.”

GOD’S FAITHFULNESS

Deuteronomy 7:9 Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments.

God will not go back on His promises or His covenant to His people.  This faithfulness extends to all people in every country, but it does have a condition.  Notice the latter part of the verse which is, “With those who love Him and keep His commandments.”  Many tell the Lord they love Him, but don’t really keep His commandments, or remain in the center of His will.  Some will treat what He wants them to do as if they are only suggestions.  It is not surprising that His protection is withdrawn during a time of need.  Don’t blame the Lord if this happens to you if you have not really remained in the center of His will.

Prayer Thought

Trust the promises of God, they will NEVER fail you.  Test them, try them and depend on them. If you’re ever going to walk on water, you’re going to have to get out of the boat.
