PostSubject: Cold Bore Shots   Sun Sep 16, 2012 2:06 pm

Guys,

Wondering if I could get some help. I'll go to the range and my cold-bore shot is WAY off. The rest of my group is very tight. Unfortunately, I don't have all day to spend at the range to let the bore cool down every time, so what are some ideas to get the first shot "on", because we all know that's the one that counts?

Thanks,

JR

First shot should not over heat the barrel. I like to take my first three shots with a little pause in between. If there in the bulls eye it goes back in the case. If not, the cooling of the barrel has to take place ...open the bolt, that helps it to cool off faster and get ya coke while ya wait...

Oh...if you clean your rifle before going to the range then yes your first shot is going to be a little off but the next two shots should be good unless your scopes off....I never clean my rifle again until i go back to the range or shoot a lot of hogs in the off season...

I here "The Place To Shoot" is back open!!

Thanks, RD.

I think my problem is the cleaning the bore after every time I leave the range. There's probably some oil left in the bore that is throwing the first shot off.

That was driving me crazy. I appreciate the help!

Also, good to hear the range is open again. I bet they took a huge financial hit there for a while.
